Carson City, NV, February 10, 2009 - The Breast Center at Sierra Surgery Hospital was recently designated as a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence by the American College of Radiology (ACR).
The Breast Center earned this prestigious honor for meeting stringent requirements established by ACR, including earning accreditation in all of the College's voluntary, breast-imaging accreditation programs and modules, in addition to the mandatory Mammography Accreditation Program. The Breast Center is fully accredited in mammography, stereotactic breast biopsy, breast ultrasound, and ultrasound-guided breast biopsy. This designation also recognizes the Breast Center has achieved high practice standards in image quality, personnel qualifications, facility equipment, quality control procedures, and quality assurance programs. There are only 314 Centers that hold this distinction in the United States.

Dr. Cortese, one of only a select few radiologists who have received fellowship training in breast imaging, joined the Breast Center in 2008 as the Director, when the Breast Center acquired the mammography services from Carson Medical Group. Since that time, the Breast Center has continued to expand their services and capabilities to better serve the women of the region.
