Sierra Surgery Hospital Awarded The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval
Carson City, NV, April 24, 2008 – Sierra Surgery Hospital recently received The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of ApprovalTM indicative of compliance with the Joint Commission’s highest national standards for healthcare quality and safety.
Most impressively, The Joint Commission’s on-site survey, which was conducted in March, made no requests for improvement. Typically, surveys will result in so-called "Requirement For Improvement" recommendations. However, in Sierra's case, the commission found that the hospital was not lacking in any of the required areas surveyed for patient care and safety.
“This is an outstanding accomplishment for our hospital and a true testament to the dedication and commitment of our entire staff to provide the highest standard of care to each of our patients,” said Joan Lapham, Sierra Surgery Hospital CEO. She expressed great pride in this achievement and in receiving the Gold Seal of Approval once again. Sierra was first accredited by the Joint Commission with a Good Seal of Approval in 2005. The Joint Commission reviews hospitals every three years to ensure they are meeting high standards of excellence.
“Above all, the national standards are intended to stimulate continuous, systematic and organization-wide improvement in an organization's performance and the outcomes of care," says Darlene Christiansen, executive director, Hospital Accreditation Program, Joint Commission. "The community should be proud that Sierra Surgery Hospital is focusing on the most challenging goal -- to continuously raise quality and safety to higher levels."
