How Are Results Categorized? The results of your mammogram will include a Breast Imaging Reporting and Data System Assessment category. This is a classification that radiologists use to report the likelihood for breast cancer. The BI-RADS classification was developed by the American College of Radiology to create a uniform way for radiologists to report mammogram findings. It includes seven categories of findings, which suggest a follow-up plan that can help guide radiologist and physicians in providing your care. The system uses a 0-6 classification for the Level of Suspicion or possibility cancer may be present.
